Real Madrid reign supreme over Barcelona in El Clasico

Barcelona- Los Blancos got one over the Catalan Giants as they won El Clasico 2016 with 2-1 at the Nou Camp on Saturday. Reports Piet Lategan.

In the first 50 minutes both sides tested the resolve of the other in creating some stunning scoring opportunities with the game hanging in the balance. In the 56th-minute it was defender of Barcelona, Gerard Piqué, who broke the deadlock after a very strong header from him found its way into the back of the net  from a corner. Real refused to take this lying down as the game quickly was on level-pegging after forward from Real Madrid, Karim Benzema, controlled the ball superbly off his chest only to spin round and finish with a spectacular volley that evened matters up.

Los Blancos then won the game for new coach and Frenchman, Zinedine Zidane, when forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, found enough space in the six yard box to work his magic. He delivered a right footed shot on the left of the six yard box into the bottom left corner of goal that secured victory for Los Blancos and broke Catalan hearts.

Barcelona still lead the Spanish La Liga with 76 points after 31 games. Altetico Madrid are on 70 points and Real Madrid on 69 points both after 31 games.
